The Smurfs were born in 1958 from the pen of Belgian artist Pierre Culliford, known as Peyo. In 1965 the German company Schleich began mass-producing the first PVC figures: the Normal Smurf, the Gold Smurf and the Convict Smurf. There are around 400 different models. Unlike other categories, no spectacular record sale is documented: prices range from a few euros for common figures up to several hundred for sought-after pieces.
